CSV-33 MF Anant Forage Sorghum Seeds

High-Yield Multi-Cut Jowar for Livestock Fodder

CSV-33 MF, also known as Anant, is an improved multi-cut forage sorghum variety. Its botanical name is Sorghum bicolor (L.) Moench. It is grown for producing large quantities of green fodder for cattle, buffaloes, goats, sheep and other livestock.

This variety has fast growth, good tillering and strong regrowth after cutting. Farmers can sow it once and take several fodder harvests during one growing season.

Phytosanitary certification and trackable international shipping are included in the price.

Key Features

  • Improved multi-cut forage sorghum

  • Fast-growing and high-tillering variety

  • Strong regrowth after every harvest

  • Produces soft, leafy green fodder

  • Suitable for dairy cattle and other livestock

  • Can be used for fresh feeding, cut-and-carry systems and silage

  • Suitable for irrigated fodder production

  • Annual crop grown from seeds

Crop Maturity and Harvesting

First harvest:
The first fodder cut is normally ready approximately 60–65 days after sowing.

Second harvest:
The second cut can generally be taken approximately 45 days after the first harvest, depending on regrowth, temperature, irrigation and soil fertility.

Later harvests:
Additional cuts may be taken at intervals of approximately 40–45 days under favourable growing conditions.

CSV-33 MF commonly provides approximately three productive cuts in one growing season under recommended management. The actual number of cuts depends on the sowing season, climate, water availability, fertilizer and crop health.

Leave approximately 10–15 cm of stem above ground level while harvesting to support healthy regrowth.

Yield Potential

Under favourable conditions and good crop management, CSV-33 MF may produce approximately 100–104 metric tonnes of green fodder per hectare over three cuts.

Actual yield can vary according to seed quality, climate, soil fertility, planting density, irrigation, fertilizer and harvesting stage.

General Cultivation Information

  • Crop type: Annual multi-cut forage sorghum

  • Botanical name: Sorghum bicolor (L.) Moench

  • Variety: CSV-33 MF Anant

  • Seed rate: Approximately 12–15 kg per hectare or about 5 kg per acre

  • Sowing depth: Approximately 2–3 cm

  • Row spacing: Approximately 25–30 cm

  • Climate: Warm tropical and subtropical conditions

  • Soil: Fertile, well-drained loam or clay-loam soil

  • Sunlight: Full sunlight

  • Water: Regular moisture is needed for good growth and regrowth; avoid prolonged waterlogging

Local sowing time should be selected according to rainfall, temperature and irrigation availability.

Suitable Uses

  • Fresh green livestock fodder

  • Cut-and-carry feeding

  • Dairy cattle and buffalo feed

  • Goat and sheep fodder

  • Silage preparation

  • Commercial fodder production

  • Mixed livestock farms

Livestock-Feeding Safety

Young or drought-stressed sorghum may contain unsafe levels of hydrocyanic acid, also called prussic acid. Do not feed very young plants, damaged regrowth or severely stressed fodder to livestock.

Harvest at the recommended stage and allow freshly cut fodder to wilt when appropriate. Introduce it gradually and mix it with other feed. Follow advice from a local veterinarian or livestock nutritionist before feeding.

International Orders

Phytosanitary certification and trackable worldwide shipping are included in the price.

Buyers are responsible for confirming seed-import requirements, permits, customs duties and agricultural restrictions in their destination country.

Important Information

Harvesting time, number of cuts, fodder yield and crop performance are approximate. Results depend on climate, soil, irrigation, seed quality and farm management. This is an annual forage sorghum and should not be advertised as a permanent or three-year fodder crop.
