Limited Fodder Use

Young and tender leaves may be given to livestock in limited quantities. Mature leaves become coarse and fibrous, so vetiver is not considered a main fodder grass. Do not feed plants grown in polluted soil or wastewater-treatment areas to animals.

Plant each slip in moist soil and water it immediately. For an erosion-control hedge, plant the slips approximately 10–15 cm apart in a continuous row. Keep the soil moist during the establishment period. Once established, vetiver is hardy and can tolerate drought and temporary waterlogging.
